Luxury tours of Milford Sound and Fiordland
Milford Sound was once described by Rudyard Kipling as the Eighth Wonder of the Natural World. With its bush clad mountains that rise sheer sided out of the fiord, its hanging valleys and its waterfalls, it looks like something out of Jurassic Park. It was actually considered as a possible location for that film by Steven Spielberg, but it was too remote. We like remote.
The ideal way to enjoy a journey into the Fiordland World Heritage Park is to be driven in by car and then fly back. This gives you the best of both worlds. You benefit by seeing the area close up and with a full and very informative commentary. The scenery will leave you speechless and the endeavours of those that built this road and the Homer tunnel will fill you with admiration. The closer you get to Milford Sound the wilder it gets with huge cataracts of water cascading down the sheer mountain sides. The flight out will top off the whole experience as you fly right next to glaciers and between ice clad peaks with views of the Sutherland Falls, Milford Walking Track and Lake Wakatipu.
